The 2023 Amapro Football Championship has been scheduled to kickoff on the 3rd of July, 2023 as the organisers look set to announce a new sponsor and ambassador for the tournament.

This year’s AMAPRO championship will be the eight edition and is expected to herald new format of qualifications as conditions for prospective participating youth clubs in Kwara State.

According to BrainBehind and AMAPRO Team Lead, Shogo Shodunnke, the playoffs is aimed at giving opportunity to clubs in the rural areas to be part of the project and to identify more talents.

Shodunnke disclosed that the playoffs will be held in three senatorial districts of Kwara State which are; Kwara North, Kwara South and Kwara Central Districts.

“In line with the motive behind the championship which is to hasten transition of amateur players to become professional footballers, we will be having the playoffs for the youth teams between 15th and 18th of June at the Lafiagi Stadium for Kwara North, Offa Township Stadium for Kwara South and the Kwara State Stadium for the Central district.

“The winners from each district will get automatic qualification to participate in the championship.

“We are also few details away to secure sponsors for this year’s edition as the championship has begin to attract relevant organizations who share in our dream,” he said.

Sixteen (16) teams across the country are expected to participate in this year’s Amapro championship taking place at the Kwara State Stadium and will last till 9th of July, 2023.
