The Abia State government has been commended for their great efforts to promote home made products and enabling environment for Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. Governor Okezie’s drive towards putting Abia artisans on the world map has been rewarded. They received the award as the best MSME supportive state, in Abuja.
The government has worked hard to promote made in Aba goods with the shoe making industry the biggest beneficiary of the gesture. It will be recalled that the state took some artisans to China to learn shoe making. They also got the services of celebrities to help promote the “made in Aba” concept to the world. The Governor has also signed deals with multinationals to improve the working condition of artisans in the state.

One of the people that benefitted from the China trip, Abia born Miss Nneoma Onwusoanya emerged as the best Female MSME personality of the year with a cash prize of #1, 000 000 and a brand new car during the Award ceremony.
The Deputy Governor of Abia state, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu represented the Governor of the state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as well as received the award on behalf of the state government in company of Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu (SSA to the Governor on Job Creation and focal person Social Investment Programmes) and other top government officials.
