Enyimba’s goalkeeper, John Noble was the hero for the People’s Elephants as they beat Rivers United 5-4 on penalties to progress to the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Rivers United’s goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai was with Enyimba and was famous for saving penalties. In 2016, Afelokhai saved three penalties to help Enyimba progress in the CAF Champions League second in Sousse, Tunisia. This season, the veteran left Enyimba and the question on the lips of fans was “who would replace Afelokhai?”

On Sunday, February 21, 2021, the question was answered. Rivers United had Enyimba to beat to progress to the group stages of the Confederations Cup.

The game went down to penalties after the aggregate score stood at 1-1. Afelokhai rolled back the years to save Olisema’s kick and the People’s Elephants were at a disadvantage. It was time for a hero to be born

John Noble, Enyimba’s new number one goalkeeper saved two penalties and scored the winner for Enyimba. He beat Theophilus Afelokhai in his game.
