A first half brace by Chigozie Silas and two goals apiece in the second from Chinwekele Dickson and Onuwa Orji respectively was all Jewels Football Academy needed to subdue visiting Odifame FC 4-0 in a friendly contest played today, 10th Dec 2021 at the training turf of community secondary school Ohanze.
A seemingly uneventful first half came to life in the 22nd minute with a memorable goal by captain Chigozie Silas, as he lobbed a delicious volley into the net off 35 yards leaving the goalkeeper helpless.
The goalscorer got his brace and Jewels’ second in the 28th minute from the spot, calmly dispatching his effort with gusto.
The second half resumed with a wholesome substitutions by head coach Akuma Joe, which subsequently yielded dividends in the 66th minute, wide-man Onuwa Orji with a moment of brilliance, crashing off the goalpost only for Chinwekele Dickson to head into an empty net effortlessly.
Onuwa eventually turned goalscorer in the closing stages of the game as he latched onto a squared ball by Friday to poke home in a gallant fashion, a goal that ceased the game from being a contest as the visitors looked dejected.
The centre referee finally brought the game to a climax as the hosts ran riot of their visitors. Next up for the Jewels FA is a journey to Umuahia on Tuesday as a mouthwatering contest with Abia Warriors Feeders is on the cards.
