Ex Super Eagles star Tijani Babangida has expressed excitement over the performance of young players at the NDDC Under 17 Peace Cup.

Babangida watched the first game of the competition between ALGON Boys and Ekimogun FC and could not hide his excitement when speaking with the competition’s media team.

“It is interesting to see young ones having the opportunity to be able to showcase themselves. Kudos to the organisers who have been able to think about bringing up this kind of tournament.

“It is useful for the youths and something than will take them off the streets. I think it is something very good.”

Babangida who is the President of the Professional Footballers’ Association of Nigeria (PFAN) further promised that exceptional talents at the week-long tournament will get the opportunity to fulfil their dreams.

“There’s the director of sports here and we can begin to talk about the national under 15 to see how we can take some of the boys there. The boys are doing very well and it’s great.”

Two teams each from the nine Niger Delta states are taking part in the competition.
