The Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Barrister Efiong Akwa has assured that the NDDC Under 17 Peace Cup will remain and hold annually.
He made the pronouncement at the grand finale of the 2021 edition held at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Sunday.
“We thank you all for participating in the 2021 edition; 2022 will also come because this Peace Cup has come to stay.
“By this time, next year, God’s willing, the Niger Delta Development Commission will also sponsor another event of this nature.”
He further announced and presented trophies and prizes to the top three teams.
“We present the trophy to the third position (Sam Decent Academy) and in addition to the cup, it has a cash prize of two million naira.
“The second place presented to Delta United has a cash prize of three million naira plus the accompanying medals.
“And finally, it is my privilege to present to the winner from Akwa Ibom State (KIFA Academy), they have a cash prize of five million naira in addition to the medals and a trophy.”
KIFA Academy of Akwa Ibom State beat Delta United of Delta State 1-0 to win the ultimate prize.
