Reactions have trailed the story that Dangote’s Peaugeot Car Plant will soon start assembling cars in Nigeria. Twitter has been agog with the story. Here are reactions from some Nigerians on Twitter
“Dangote is free to manufacture cars as far as I am concerned he is assembling Peugeot and it does not stop Innoson, we should not have a monopoly, we need more people to manufacture cars so that we can have as many options as possible. Thanks.”
Udumueze John
” Innoson na still the dopest motor manufacturer we know. Dem dey try abeg. Cool models too na just say we nigerians like foreign names just for showoffs and to belong which is ridiculous. Whatever happen to supporting our very own local brands? Huh?”
Telemuzic
“Not sure people know that there are well over a dozen vehicle assembly plants currently operating in Nigeria, with installed capacity of over 400,000 vehicles annually — including Electric Vehicles. They’re mostly in Lagos; you have Innoson and Sinotrucks in SE and Peugeot in NW.”
Tolu Ogunlesi
” If Dangote is going into automobile manufacturing, I don’t see how it will concern Innoson.
I mean, there are roughly 20 car manufacturing companies in the USA.
Dangote won’t force people to buy his cars.”
Nwaada Oluchi
” There has been a lot of unintelligent rants about Innoson not thriving due to the new Dangote plant.
Competition is healthy and should not be seen as a tribal thing.”
David Daudu
“Now this shouldn’t be a problem. Competition should be encouraged, nothing stops anyone from enjoying INNOSON cars as well as Dangotes, but the Government in power must allow both thrive and not to invent polices that would give one the edge over the other.”
