Enyimba FC got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Gombe United in Aba. The People’s Elephants lost 2-0 to Shooting Stars in Ibadan and needed a victory in the encounter

Enyimba started the game in search of early goals and Mbaoma could have made it a dream start in the second minute but he missed a one-on-one chance when he came before Kazeem Yekini. Mbaoma flicked a pass to Obioma in the 5th minute and the striker shot wide off Kazeem goal.

The wait was finally over in the 6th minute when Emeka Obioma scored after Enyimba piled pressure on their hosts. Obioma could have added a second in the 13th minute but he shot wide after connecting to Samuel Kalu’s flick

Mbaoma got his 11th goal of the league season in the 16th minute after a brilliant interchange of passes between him and Obioma and he lifted the ball past Kazeem for Enyimba’s second goal

The visitors had their first real chance in the 20th minute when Samuel Oyediji shot on goal but his fine effort narrowly missed John Noble’s net

Cyril Olisema got Enyimba’s third goal in the 29th minute when he got a pass from Samuel Kalu and he calmly beat the goalkeeper.

Gombe United responded with renewed zeal as they took the battle to their hosts and they came close in the 31st minute but John Noble positioned well to save his long range effort

Gombe United returned stronger in the second half and were confident on the ball after coach Zubairu made changes.

Samuel Kalu thought he had scored Enyimba’s fourth goal but his kick narrowly missed the target after he perfectly connected to Bilal’s sublime cross. There were chances too for Gombe United but Ahmed Jimoh and Christian Innocent failed to make the best use of their chances

Victor Mbaoma missed the chance to get a second goal in the 74th minute when he latched on to the ball after Kazeem spilled Oladapo’s long range shot

Enyimba defended in their numbers and frustrated Gombe United’s late surge for a goal
