The Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, NYIF, is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Youth.and Sports development that has since recieved the blessings and endorsement of the federal government.
The initiative was set out, to assist business minded Nigerian youths with soft loans to improve their businesses.
Nigeria Sports minister Sunday Dare was and is still a journalist and he understands the plight of the media especially in today’s world.
Every media man, especially the independent ones in the ever expanding New Media platform need tools to work and the ministry’s intervention could just be the motivation needed to take their trade to the next level.
Thursday September, 2022, will go down in history as the birth of a new dawn for Sports journalism in Nigeria as no fewer than sixteen sports journalists spread across the six geo-political regions recieved the sum of 500,000 Naira (five hundred thousand naira) non refundable loans, from the National youth investment fund, an initiative of the Nigeria Sports ministry.
This is not the first time that the sports ministry has extended a hand of love to the media. The most recent being, the 400,000 naira given to sixteen journalists as incentives to support their two day trip to Ghana for the all important World Cup Qualifier with the Black Stars
Then, the ministry also took 10 Journalists to the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and gave another 10, 5.5million naira to augment their expenses during the games.
The Sunday Dare administration has continued to standout in performance, achievements, athletes relationship and now media relations, since assuming office in August, 2019 and in the area of youth development, Dare has achieved even more compared to his predecessors.
