Ekiti United Football Club has expressed its condolences to the Ekiti State Government and the family of late Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Funminiyu Afuye.
The Chairman of the club, Mrs Funke Babalola described Hon. Afuye as a gallant public servant, hard-working and fiercely loyal to the common good.
“On behalf of Ekiti United, we wish to express sincerest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and to the Ekiti State Government. We mourn with the entire Ekiti on the loss of is dedicated son.
“He was highly respected among his peers and a passionate champion of Ekiti interest. May his soul rest in peace.”
Rt. Hon Afuye died on Wednesday evening at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The late Afuye, 66, was a former Commissioner, Ekiti State Ministry of Information and two-time member of the State Assembly. He was inaugurated Speaker of the sixth Assembly on June 6, 2019.
