As the call for good governance, accountability and most importantly the dividends of democracy especially at grassroot resounds around the 17 Local Government Area of Abia state
Hon Chidiebere Njoku the councilor representing Amaasa Ward Ward 5, has stood out as one of those elected in the Novermber 2, 2024 Local Government Elections whose emergence election has brought succour to the grassroots and developmental ideology in terms of bills and projects.
Hon Chidiebere Njoku, on Friday commissioned a newly-built borehole in Umuimo Community in Osisioma Local Government Area.
The Councilor celebrated his 100 days in office with the project. The program was attended by elated members of the community who sang songs of praises.
The project was commissioned by Senator Darlington Nwokocha represented by the member representing Isialangwa South in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Roland Dennis (Caesar).
“I am here in a double barrel capacity first to represent His Excellency Senator Darlington Nwokocha and also to stand and show solidarity with my brother and junior colleague and to encourage him for this feat.” Hon. Roland said.
He reminisced on how he started his political journey just like Hon. Chidiebere Njoku as a councilor and today he is at the State House of Assembly.
“You have started well, I must commend you. I think you are the only councilor that has commissioned a project in this your set, so I can boldly call you the number one councilor in Abia state, I started as a councilor too and now an Assembly member.” Hon Caesar added.
Hon. Chidiebere Njoku, overwhelmed with joy to have been able to meet one of the needs of his wards, the Amaasaa ward 5, said that he will do more and that he is focused on fulfilling his campaign promises and beyond, promising that this is the first of many projects for his constituents.
“I don’t want to be like other politicians, I want to be a leader and meet the needs of my people, this maybe small but we just started; more is coming” said Hon Chidiebere.
The Local government is the closest government to the people and should be taken seriously even as the call for full local government autonomy continues.
