Many successful people get to the top by following the model already set by other outstanding achievers.

This is true in the case of one of Nigeria’s finest grassroots coaches; Lt-Coach Law who has revealed why his team play the way they do – playing possession football. He said he patterns his football philosophy after former Arsenal Coach, Arsene Wenger

“Arsene Wenger is my model. I love his style of play. My team loves to keep the ball on the ground, play to your feet, play from the wings and watch out for trigger moments in the game and explore the weaknesses of the opponents.”

He revealed this in a high profile interview with “Let’s Gist Naija Football” which was also monitored by Bellsnews

The seasoned coach who has trained and produced professional players who are excelling in various leagues in many parts of the world said he relishes the prospect of playing against the ‘big boys’ in the NPFL.

Coach all smiles and set for training

Lt-Coach Law is an Israel-trained Military Intelligence Officer whose passion for football brought him in contact with football as a manager. He is the Provost of Nigerian Football Coaches Association, AMAC Chapter, Abuja.

The Pepsi Football Academy product also had stints at Argenti Football Club Aba, Young Stars Football Club, and also played in the youth team of Nigeria’s biggest and most successful club, Enyimba FC of Aba. He also played professional football in Ghana and Europe.

The graduate in International Relations of the famous Obafemi Awolowo University, also talked about the level of coaching in the Nigerian Leagues

“we are not there yet. We are lacking some basics.” He said the reason for this is that some coaches are not sponsored to go for courses that would help them to be in touch with trends in modern football. He said he is considering helping local coaches to get training abroad to enable them impart what they have learnt to their players and improve their coaching skills

The VINsports Football Academy coach also bared his mind on the controversial issue about Gernot Rohr’s contract. He said he understands the fact that he is not a decision maker but personally, he would want NFF to renew Gernot Rohr’s contract. He also applauded NFF’s decision to add Yobo to the national team as an assistant

With his strides in grooming talents, he looks forward to producing quality footballers that would be worthy ambassadors of the job he has been doing
