Aba South LGA produced a stunning comeback to beat Ukwa West 3-2 at the Abia Governor’s Cup, on Tuesday. It was a thrilling encounter at the Umuahia Township Stadium as both teams showcased top football artistry and fitness

Ukwa West started the attack early in the game in search of an early goal but could not find the opener. There were half chances for both teams. Ukwa West took the lead in the 30th minute when Justice Nwogu scored through a penalty.

Ukwa West doubled their lead in the 35th minute through Ndubuisi Okoro who scored from outside the box with a fine shot

Aba South were invigorated in the second half and they sought that goal that would inspire a possible comeback. The dramatic comeback began in the 47th minute when Chukwunyere Chibuike scored for Aba South with a fine finish after he received a cross from the impressive Chidiebere Diamond

Ebuka Nwokorie brought Aba South level in the 54th minute when he converted a penalty. Ebuka Nwokorie got his brace with a sublime freekick from outside the box in the 63rd minute and that was the decider as Aba South progressed to the quarterfinals in style
