Isiukwuato LGA have qualified to the quarterfinals of the Abia Governor’s Cup after a penalty shootout victory over Obingwa, which is the local government area of the Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu. There was all to play for as the Sports Commissioner’s team, Isiukwuato progressed ahead of the Governor’s LGA. The Sports Commissioner, Hon. Emeka Ikwuagwu was present to cheer his LGA to victory
Isiukwuato took the lead in the 16th minute through a volley from Destiny Ago. Obingwa battled to come back to the game but goalkeeper, Mike Azuogu foiled their attempts
Obingwa came back to the game in the 47th minute through a goal from Uzochukwu Chijioke. Uzochukwu turned a villain in the 55th minute when he missed the chance to get a winner for Obingwa after coming face-to-face with goalkeeper, Mike Azuogu.
Both teams went in search of a winner but could not get a winner in regulation time. The game went down to penalties and Isiukwuato got a 3-2 victory
