The Labour Party in Abia State have formally flagged off their campaigns for the November 2 Local Government elections in the state. On Tuesday, the party converged on the Recreation Club in Aba to formally present their candidates for the 17 Local Government Councils.
Each LG council candidate entered the arena with his supporters. In all, 17 candidates were presented with flags for all the Local Government Councils in Abia State by Ceekay Igara, the National Vice President of the Party in the South East and Chairman of the Local Government Abia State Election Committee.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Igara said that the party belongs to the people, hence the party is the party to beat.
On his part, Barrister Charles Nwandu who is the LG chairmanship candidate for Aba North, said he will serve the people of Aba North and restore security to the Local Government.
“I am contesting to serve humanity. My calling in life is service to humanity. You can’t serve humanity well when you are not close to government or governance. I want to use the platform of Aba North LG chairmanship. If by virtue of grace I emerge, people will rejoice.”
“To ensure that the downtrodden are happy again. There is insurgency and insecurity in Aba North. I am coming to fix it; I have the solution in my hand to ensure that sanity is restored within Aba North.”
On his part, Hon. Ebin Kalu Orji, the chairmanship candidate of Ohafia LGA said that the Labour Parry is the party to beat in the polls and expressed confidence that he will be declared winner on Saturday. He also spoke about his aspirations for Ohafia people.
“As long as Local Government administration is concerned, I’m going to make people realize the dividends of democracy. I’m going to touch the grassroots.”
With the official flag off of the campaigns, the candidates now take the campaigns to their intending constituents across the state.
