Heartland winger Chukwuma Agor is eagerly anticipating Sunday’s Oriental derby against Abia Warriors in Owerri.
With the goal of mirroring their successful visit to their rivals earlier this season, where the Naze Millionaires secured a 2-0 victory thanks to Agor and Michael Ogu’s goals, he believes Heartland can achieve another favorable outcome.
“Absolutely! That’s our goal,” he expressed. “I’m determined to contribute, and everyone is motivated to finish the season strong.
“Heartland usually performs well in derby matches, and I’ve participated in several myself. We’re heading into this weekend’s game with a lot of confidence, and I believe we can repeat our success from Umuahia. Why not?
“The derby holds significant meaning for the fans, and I share that sentiment. We’re all very enthusiastic. Every player is giving their best, and the coaching staff is fully committed to ensuring we finish as high as possible.”
Reflecting on his personal performance this season, with three goals and one assist in 18 matches, Agor feels proud of his accomplishments.
“I believe I’ve reached some impressive milestones,” he noted.
Heartland has enjoyed tremendous support from their fans, both at Dan Anyiam Stadium and during away games, and Agor feels that the bond with the supporters can propel the Naze Millionaires to a memorable conclusion to the season.
“It’s been incredible,” he remarked. “This season, the connection has grown even stronger. The interaction between players and fans is really motivating us.
“Kudos to all the players. Everyone is playing their part, including the staff, for everything we’ve achieved. We’ve put in a lot of effort during this time, and it’s starting to pay off. As we approach the crucial part of the season, we all need to be ready to step up and contribute.”
