‘corrupt match officials has been a major deterrent to football growth in Nigeria especially in the NPFL. Most referees have played a major role, negatively, in deciding who wins the league.”
Speaking to our reporter from his base in Dubai, the YSFON AMBASSADOR said
“In the game of football today in Nigeria, coaches do not do much technically and tactically, they believe the referee, who has the juice and power, can award them a penalty late in the game for all three points or disallow their opponent’e goal. Because of this, development of the game has been marred and the game brought to disputes by unscrupulous elements who call themselves match officials”
