Bayelsa Queens Football Club were held to a goalless draw by Ampem Darkoa of Ghana in matchday two of the CAF Women Champions League 2022 WAFU-B qualifiers at the Stade De Yamoussoukro, in Cote D’Ivoire.
Ampem Darkoa took the kick off and with just twenty six seconds a free kick was awarded to Bayelsa Queens and Touta Evanick booted it wide for a goal kick to Darkoa.
The NWFL Champions, Bayelsa Queens FC wanted the early goal which they couldn’t get and after ten minutes allowed the ladies from Ghana to dictate the pace of the game.
The Prosperity Girls tried all they could, but it was Ampem Darkoa Ladies that dominated proceedings as Bayelsa Queens were losing the ball in the midfield and their passes were faulty.
In the twenty-eight minute, Chinyere Igboamalu beat her marker and was running towards goal when she was brought down and the first yellow card was given to Victoria Osei of Ampem Darkoa and the resultant free kick from Bayelsa Queens Captain Uzoamaka Igwe almost beat Salifu Safiatu in goal for Ampem, but for her alertness, after that it became a ding-dong affairs and the first half ended goalless
The technical crew led by coach Ogbodan Kingdom made some changes in the second half bringing Zainab Olapade for Salisu Anuoluwapo, Favour Emmanuel who brought stability to the midfield of Bayelsa Queens FC for Itimi Mercy.
But, the Ghanaians remain resolute and held on to end the game goalless. But overall play, the Ghanian ladies dominated.
Meanwhile, Acting Technical Adviser, Domo Okara was not allowed to be at the technical area as his name was not on the team list.
Next game for Bayelsa Queens FC is against Union Sportive (USFA) of Burkina Faso on Saturday while Ampem Darkoa will battle Athleta FC of Togo.
