Reactions have trailed the much awaited release of Chief Daddy 2. The part one of the movie was interesting but the second part has got many negative reviews from fans
Fans flooded Netflix’s official page on Facebook to vent their anger while some also appreciated the effort. To some, the second part was unnecessary and full of “dry jokes”. Some who came to the defense of the script writers and producers said it was just a comedy and so fans should not expect a serious plot
Here is a comment by a journalist, Queen John about the movie
“I have always been a fan of Nollywood and I saw it as a welcome development when our movies went on Netflix. I have watched very good Nigerian movies there like the King of Boys, Fine Wine, God’s Calling, Gone etc. Over the years the quality and scripting has improved and still room for improvement but who told them Chief Daddy needed a part 2? There are some movies that are just perfect without extending the scenes or milking the views from the first part. I have seen a lot of bad reviews about Chief Daddy and I tried to watch it myself today before concluding but I can’t even watch it again. The first 15 mins is a big disappointment and I don’t know if I can watch it till the end.
For me its a star studded like part 1 but with dry jokes, repetitive scenes or story line waste of time and resources, poor scripting/storyline and cinematography and then they gave us a bad movie at the start of 2022 just the way Arsenal recorded the first Premier league loss in 2022. It might be number one right now on Netflix but not for how good it is but how terrible it is and some of us just ant to see for ourselves before rating it”
