Crab Mentality!
I do not only think Soludo wanted to demarket Obi. In addition to that, he wanted much to sell himself, and it is okay in partisan politics. His recent TV outing was quite Machiavellian, if you ask me. And yes, in national politics, crab mentality makes rival brothers sore losers and others fortunate winners. It is politics, it has to do with ‘pull him down’ syndrome (PHD syndrome). The question usually is, ‘How do I reach my destination if I don’t take out my adversary first?’
Fine, we may not all agree with it. But that is the thing with crabs kept in an open bucket or container. None gets to escape because others want to pull everybody down so they can escape first. But in the end, everyone is consumed. The philosophy is, ‘If I can’t have it, neither you can.’ If you understood this concept, you wouldn’t bother so much with what Emeka Ihedioha or Orji Uzor Kalu says about Obi.
It may not mean they are entirely bad people. Politics, we know, is not a place where interests converge, but rather where they sometimes diverge. Interests could be individual, partisan, regional or national. They are still interest.
I only hope Soludo is able to do better than a ‘next to nothing investment’ in Anambara after 2026. This is even the bigger task before him, also the better way to sell himself. However, it is unfortunate that crab mentality plays out in politics. But it does play out yet.
