Ambitious Jewels Football Academy feasted on visiting Dazzling Sport Academy in a ruthless fashion on Wednesday 12th of may 2021 at secondary school ohanze.

Jewel FC came into the game desperately seeking to end a run of a 6-match winless streak and were looking very promising as they took the kickoff with firepower advancing towards the goal of the visitors. An early intent from the right resulted in a goal mouth scramble as central defender Uche picked fellow defensive partner Jonadab Nwakamma with a through cross and an unmarked Jonadab headed home early on in the 2nd minute for the game’s opener.

Jewels maintained the early surge and went close severally as the swift attacking full capacities of pacy trio of Ogbebe Hezekiah, Aaron Okoro and Obinna kept running down the line, not forgetting an injection down the left flank from diminutive left back Ihunwo Friday with fierce crosses, a feat which paid off in the 8th minute with a free kick at the edge of the box, as dead ball specialist junior Okechukwu fiercely curled his effort leaving the goalkeeper helpless for Jewels’ second.

The coach Akin Joe-led side turned the game in to an all attacking flow with impressive left back Ihunwo Friday delivering an intentional free kick in the 33rd minute as Aaron Okoro rose to head past an already dejected prince Nwaogwugwu in goal for the visitors for Jewels’ third goal prior to the halftime whistle, even as dazzling Sports Academy looked ordinary throughout the first half proceedings.

The second half resumed with vigour and more intent as Jewels Football Academy consolidated their first half dominance to deservedly add to their lead with the fourth goal in the 52nd minute, as striker Ogbebe Hezekiah found space in the box after a neat assist from Aaron Okoro to calmly slot home, apparently taking the match off from the status of being a contest as the less fancied visitors never threatened.

Debutants promise Umeh and lanky forward Bright were thrown into the fray and it was the former who deservedly got his maiden brace in the 62 and 71 minute respectively with fine finishes as Jewels ran ruthless with a 6 nil emphatic victory, as NWFL highly rated referee Ugochi Okezie in charge of proceedings finally blew for full time.

Speaking to Jewels media in a post match chat, the President of Jewels Football Academy, Sir Ikechukwu ‘Best man’ Aaron shared his thoughts: “The boys showed great character today especially after returning to winning ways, it was actually a tune-up game prior to the proposed scouting programme next month here in Abia State, generally it was a great outing, i don’t expect them to rest on their laurels, they have to be intentional and be ready to ride on the highs of this performance in their subsequent games”.

Another undisclosed high profiled friendly at the end of the week is in the offing for Jewels Football Academy as the project in Ohanze wears on.
