Enyimba Foundation, in collaboration with Enyimba Football Club put smiles on the faces of children and their caregivers from four Motherless Babies homes in Aba, on Monday by gifting them food, cash and other necessities.

This is Enyimba Foundation’s second philanthropic gesture, in collaboration with Enyimba FC, since the foundation was formed in September 2023. Four orphanage homes; Seventh Day Motherless Babies Ngwa Road and Ogborhill, Rita Joy Motherless Babies and Father Basil Motherless Babies were beneficiaries.

The event which was held at the Enyimba Stadium was one of fun, joy and dance as the children expressed themselves in dance and other activities.

Enyimba FC players were part of the occasion as they came out in club jerseys and joined in the joyous occasion, having time together with the children, including group photograph.

Each home returned with 200,000 naira in cash, a bag of rice, a full bag of gari, oil, noodles and other necessities.

The Chairman of the club, Kanu Nwankwo was present at the event alongside the club’s Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, former Super Eagles defender and current member of Enyimba board, Uche Okechukwu among others.

Speaking shortly before taking photograph with the children and their caregivers, Kanu Nwankwo said that the purpose of the event was to extend a helping hand to those in need as part of the club’s social responsibility.

Kanu, who won many trophies in his career concluded by saying: This is not about Kanu, it is about these children. When I was playing, people said that if I win trophies I will be happy. But after winning many trophies, I found out that there is more to life than winning trophies.”

The children were given a privilege they would cherish for a long time–that of being driven to and fro in Enyimba FC’s official branded buses.
