Interim head coach of FC ONE Rockets Itoro Xavier Atat is excited with his team’s response in training and aims to start his time at the club on a winning note when they face Cynosure FC on Saturday, at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium by 4pm.

“The spirit in training is wonderful. As you can see, from day one that I resumed with them, I noticed that the spirit is there and tomorrow’s game will be better and we will score more goals.”

Atat also revealed that the approach will be different this time after Cynosure won the reverse fixture 1-0 in Abakaliki.

“Technically, based on our game plan, we have to approach the game based on what we met in their home. Now we have to work with what we met in their home. It’s not that they are better than us, but they had their chance and they took it.

“We too at home, we have to work on our chances and take them.”

With FC ONE Rockets in 10th place in Southern Conference Group B2, the gaffer who just got promoted to his role from the team’s prestigious Carabana Academy, is convinced the team will get it right and finish well at the end of the season.

“The situation will always turnaround because if you watch us from the academy, most of the matches we played, we scored more goals. So it’s just to bring the mentality to the main team, to switch them. If you see the training, we work more goalscoring ability.

“Even with the boys, psychologically they are happy, they are ready. In some games now, I think we can be scoring four or five goals…every game we play, our goals should start from two goals.

“It’s not difficult. I don’t think it’s difficult because we are 10th; and if you see most of the points are very close. All we need to do is to go away and pick points and manage to win all our games…we will do it.”

After Saturday’s encounter against Cynosure FC, the team travels next to face Ijebu United in Ijebu Ode.
