The Governor Okezie Ikpeazu preseason tournament is gathering momentum with just some days remaining before the tournament kicks off
The Governor Victor Okezie Ikpeazu Preseason Committee, on Monday visited the Senior Special Adviser To the Governor On Special Duties, Chief Junior Erondu in his office.
The Governor’s aide promised to support the Committee in ensuring that all logistics needed to organize a successful tournament is provided.
He said that the interest of the Governor is to ensure that youths in state and beyond are properly empowered through sports, especially football. He commended the efforts of the Committee, and urged them to work assiduously until they deliver a befitting Preseason tournament in the state
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Sports Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu had intimated the Governor’s Special Aide of the concept of the tournament, and solicited for his support for the organization of a memorable tournament in the state.
Present at the occasion was the Chairman of the Committee Ugochukwu Anosike, Secretary/Coordinator Patrick Ngwaogu, Hycient Ezindu, Osaka Okorie, Obioma Onyeaghala and Sylvester Ugochukwu.
The tournament holds in Aba 15-24 November with 11 Premiership clubs comprising of Enyimba FC, Abia Warriors FC, Rangers FC, Dakadda FC, Heartland FC, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Akwa United, Rivers Utd, MFM FC, Plateau United and Abia Comets taking part.
