This is Ikechukwu Bartholomew Ibenegbu , he is nicknamed “mosquito” (apparently due to his skinny looks) he is currently 35 years old he plays in the attacking midfield position (number 10 role) he is a very creative player.
He started his professional career in 2005 with El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri at the age of 19 and surprisingly finished as the league top scorer that very season (2005/ 2006).
He moved to Nigerian giants Enyimba FC ahead of the 2006/2007 Nigerian Football League season, he won the 2007 title with Enyimba FC and moved away from Enyimba FC due to lack of regular playing time, he eventually joined Enyimba FC’s rivals Heartland FC.
There his career blossomed, he left Heartland FC and joined Warri Wolves ahead of the 2014/ 2015 NPFL season. After playing for Warri Wolves for 2 years he joined then newly crowned league, Champions Enyimba FC of Aba ahead of the 2015/2016 NPFL season and he spent 4 seasons with the People’s Elephant before joining Enugu Rangers ahead of the short 2019/2020 NPFL season and moved to the United States at the end of 2020.
He won the NPFL titles on two occasions (2007 & 2019 with Enyimba FC) and he also won the Nigerian Federations Cup ( one two occasions 2011 & 2012 with Heartland FC) he was an integral part of the Heartland FC Team that almost ruled Africa in 2009 as they go to the final of the CAF Champions league only to lose to TP Mazembe of DR Congo ( on away goals rule)
He was a member of the Nigerian Beach soccer team and represented the side at the 2006 & 2011 Beach Soccer World Cup.
He was also a fringe player with the senior national team the Super Eagles, and almost got included in the 2010 World Cup squad after the John Obi Mikel sustained an injury before the World Cup but he was eventually dropped in the later only to be replaced by Brown Ideye.
He was also an important part of the home based Super Eagles Team and represented the side at the 2010 & 2011 WAFU CUP (a tournament Nigeria finished 1st & 2nd respectively) and he was also a part of the 2016 CHAN squad.
He is a very creative midfielder and is famous for his mastery in the act of set piece taking ( especially the game between Enyimba and Akwa United in 2016 where he scored a free kick and was asked to retake it, he took it again and also scored) he is an amazing player and have maintained longevity in the in Football.
He is a TRUE LEGEND OF THE NIGERIAN LEAGUE.
