In Search of Justice

Justice has taken a flight
Vile has climbed a height
The land bleeds from rape
Man, without conscience, is ape
To God he prays and to faith does pledge
Depravity, debasement drive him to edge
Slowly, slowly, justice took a flight
Glaringly, oppression is in full sight

You pray headlong in Mecca
But are farther than near from the maker
You pray arselong and fast dry
Yet to right wrong you’d never try
Slowly, slowly, justice took a flight
Gently, gently, we name evil aright
Littly, littly, the deed will be done
Faintly, faintly, voice of reason will be gone
We hear, hear and hear but never heed
Heedless, like our call isn’t for the good deed
Villainy does on us beckon
To shun and never just old days reckon
Slowly, slowly, justice is taking flight
By degrees, it is vanishing from sight

We say those who will do the bid are not born
Yet we leave a dirty place for our unborn
A detached man builds aloofly his nest
But none can tell whose door is next
From where the cry comes
Nor who next the victim of injustice becomes
Slowly, slowly, justice has taken flight
We do not know our fate and plight
Justice will be long gone
Since right questions men have foregone

We are all in it
Together in this pit
