The Labour Party State Working Committee (SWC) in Abia State, led by its Acting Chairman, Prince G.O Ndubueze, have inaugurated a Disciplinary Committee to look into reported anti-party activities by its members. The committee was inaugurated on Wednesday in Aba.
Speaking to the media shortly after his inauguration, the Chairman of the committee, Ider Uche Achugbuo Emmanuel said the new administration of the party wants to restore discipline to the party. He speaks on his committee’s mandate.
“To look at the anti-party activities of members of this party. You know in any organization that you don’t have discipline, that organization is bound to collapse. So the new administration of Labour Party in the state, want to divert that type of incident from happening. It has been existing in the constitution, there is a disciplinary committee by the party but they’ve not been existing. Maybe that is why some people played anti-party activities and feel that they can get out of it.”
On their mode of determining who has gone contrary to the statutes of the party, he said the matter is simple.
“It is very simple. You belong to a political party and you decide to work for another party. It is an anti-party [activity] and there is a punishment for that.”
He said the committee will look into the constitution of the party and see where each person has erred and the punishments for each offense.
