The Chief Operating Officer of the League Management Company, Alhaji Salihu Abubakar says that the NPFL TV will be affordable for all Nigerians as the LMC intends to bring the league closer to the people from anywhere in the world. Alhaji Salihu Abubakar spoke to journalists shortly after receiving his award at the NPFL Club Secretaries Merit Awards in Aba
Salihu said that he was happy to be in Aba as the city has a rich history in Nigeria’s football
“It is a pleasure being in Aba again, Aba is like home to me because it is the home of football and any football person that comes to Aba knows that he is at home.
It is a great pleasure to be recognized and honoured by the body that you are working for. It means you are doing the right things and they are happy about that, so that is why we had to personally come to Aba to receive the award. It is an award that really says a lot and it will spur us now to work more and ensure that we take the league to the pinnacle of African football and to become one of the best, which is our vision to make Nigerian League among the best in the world”.
Salihu Abubakar took time to talk about the NPFL TV app which has gotten international recognition as many countries are now trying to adopt the NPFL’s approach
“Every year we try to bring in innovations and in the administration and management of the league. This year you are aware that we brought in the NPFL TV which is a novel idea that has never been done by any league in the world at all. As I am talking to you now, they are trying to copy it in so many other countries.
It is an app that gives you the opportunity to watch NPFL games, anywhere you are; on your farm, in the market, anywhere you are, they are playing the game, you watch it live. At the end of the day, it is going to be so cheap and affordable to everybody in Nigeria, we hope that Nigerians will catch on to it and support the league.”
Alhaji Salihu Abubakar was full of praises for the Club Secretaries and said that “They came with a bang”
