Madagascar Massacre

First, I wish the Nigerian national team luck in their subsequent outings in the ongoing Nations Cup but I have placed a ban on my eyes never again to view further, any games by the lads. There is no such thing known to me as Super Eagles but Super Egrets. Eagles and Egrets both are birds with telling different qualities. While an eagle fends for itself conquering the land and air, an egret depends on cattle for ticks and sometimes for free ride! With Nigerian “Super Egrets”, qualification to next stage or phase of soccer competition becomes a mathematical problem defying all known solutions. While you wait for Team A to beat Team C to Nigeria’s advantage you pray Team B draws by 4 goals apiece against Team D to cancel goal difference whose odd weighs against Nigeria and then hope that Nigeria wins her opponent with a half goal. Then against your hope, Nigeria fails to score even an inch of a goal. This happens with the eagles turn egrets, like a recurring decimal. We bungle and give away our chances so much that we pray to walk with the legs and energy of others into any tournament! Our qualification fate doesn’t often lie in our hands.

Qualification ticket to 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan was delivered to Nigeria by Ghana who must stop Liberia (and of course they did) from going to what would have been their first ever World Cup. In 2005/6, hoping against hope, we depended on the outcome of the game between Angola and Malawi to be in Germany and just then, against hope, hope crashed for when the result was in, Angola had qualified, Nigeria was not going to Germany!http://www.bellsnews.com/sports/madagascars-bulls-tear-nigerias-eagles-apart/

I do not, however, have names either positive or negative to call these lads so all I wish them is just luck. The recent massacre by Madagascar is barefacedly, a shame to our collective soccer fraternity because Madagascar did not just defeat us alone but unseated us from top of the group, also did they cancel and neutralize our goal difference of plus 2 to zero. The worst height of humiliation was that aside being more clinical than Nigeria Madagascar had better begging chances than the wingless eagles!

Even though chances are that Nigeria may still win the tournament, I deserve to own my peace while I can have or afford it. So when next the egrets play I will be no enthusiast, my peace is not that cheap.

Biko madam nyegodim one bottle there, mortuary standard!
