The end has not been heard of a controversy which has rocked the Jigawa Golden Stars, after the club fielded a player which the LMC had designated as ineligible for the game against Rivers United
Days after the incident, the clamour for deduction of points from the club has become monumental.
Christopher Richard is the player in the eye of the storm. Sources close to the player said he insists that he has three yellow cards, against the five which would make him ineligible for the game
According to the LMC’s framework, any team that fields an ineligible player would forfeit three points to their opponents
The Dutse based side were notified by the LMC but they claimed that they did not receive the mail. Rivers United quickly protested after their loss to Jigawa Golden Stars. Sources close to the Pride of Rivers say the club is optimistic that the LMC will rule in their favour. Sources also say that the club may go on appeal if the LMC’s decision is not in their favour
