The Technical Committee of the NFF has passed a vote of confidence on Super Eagles coach and supports him to succeed as coach of the team. Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, a member of the committee said
“Technical and Development Committee have concluded negotiation with Mr. Gernot Rohr over a contract extension. Both parties have agreed to continue this beautiful relationship.
Mr. Rohr has been assured of our tremendous support like we always do for all National teams.
The targets in the coming years are clear to all parties and we’ll work very hard to achieve the targets.
The 2021 AFCON title is our top target and we believe Mr. Rohr has the quality to lead the team to success.
We also appreciate the amazing work he has done so far.
We have come a long journey with Mr. Rohr since 2016 when he was appointed, a lot of people criticized us but we knew what we saw and our plans with him.
First, was to make 2019 AFCON after missing the previous two editions. The target was semi-final which the team achieved. We have set out our plans which My Committee will work with Mr. Rohr to achieve.
The contract distraction is over and all parties will concentrate on the qualifiers after COVID-19
We have confidence in Mr. Rohr and we are optimistic with him in charge”
