The Presidential Standar-bearer of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has congratulated Tobi Amusan on her World Athletics victory in Oregon. In a tweet, the former Anambra Governor said Nigeria needs leaders to match the talents and ambitions of Nigerian youths

“I sincerely congratulate Tobi Amusan on winning the 100M hurdles gold medal and setting a world record. Her tears at the ceremony podium while the Nigerian anthem played, connects that our dear country needs leaders to match the talents and ambitions of her youths.”

Amusan set a world record of 12.12 seconds in the semifinals of the 110 metres hurdles and won the final in 12.06 seconds, to become the first Nigerian to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championship

Amusan is African champion and now, a world champion
