The Minister in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio has urged players participating at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Under 17 Peace Cup to be committed and take their careers seriously.

The Honourable Minister, represented at the opening ceremony of the competition held at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Sunday by his Chief of Staff, Sir Etekamba Umoren, gave the advice shortly after the opening game ended.

” I want to apologize for His Excellency’s absence because he is engaged in other activities, but because he has the interest of the youths of the Niger/Delta at heart, and he is interested in their welfare, he has asked me to represent him.”

“I bring you greetings from the Minister for Niger/Delta, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio. He’s happy with what is going on here. he is happy that the Niger Delta youths have embraced peace.”

“I can assure you that he will do a lot more for the youths of the region.

“The tournament comprises all teams from the states of the region… it means all the started have been represented.

“This tournament will not end here… sooner or later, we will start hearing some of these names just like the stars that are here.

“This is just the beginning of your career. You have to show commitment to encourage the Ministry of Niger Delta to continue what they are doing.”

He wished the tournament well and assured that the Niger/Delta Ministry and the NDDC will continue to work together.

“I’m sure that at the end of this competition, we will have reasons to thank the Minister, Niger/Delta and also thank the NDDC for the sponsorship of this competition.”
