When the Falconets played against France on Friday morning, the team showed zeal and were compact in defense. One player who shone brilliantly was Tosin Demehin who wore the number 5 jersey.

Demehin is the captain of the side and she showed why she is the captain. The former Sunshine Queens defender was a joy to watch and she was an enforcer

Demehin, who now plays for Rivers Angels made sure that she cut out almost all attacks from the French team. No wonder, fans are beginning to dream of her taking Onome Ebi’s place when the legend retires

Demehin grew through the U17 team and has progressed beautifully to lead a team of serious-minded girls and that was evident against France

She read the opponent’s passes so well and coordinated her defense to stifle the dangerous attacks from the European Champions.

With the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup drawing closer, the Super Falcons team is beginning to get shape and the inclusion of Demehin will be a blessing

Demehin would have gone for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations but coach Danjuma wanted his captain strong and fresh, to face the world in Costa Rica

Now, after the tournament, the stage should be set for the new Onome Ebi to emerge
