The Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah has paid his first official visit to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu at Government House, Umuahia and requested that he works together with the Governor for the overall development of the State, reports Abia Online.

Dr. Uche Ogah urged Governor Ikpeazu to get him informed of any area the State needs the Federal Government’s assistance, assuring that he has the capacity to reach out to the Federal so that the interest of the State would be protected. The Minister, who was in the State to representPresident Muhammadu Buhari at the burial of late Mr. John Aguiyi Ironsi, son of a former Head of State, late General Aguiyi Ironsi also assured that he would do his best to ensure the erosion manace in Abia State and illegal mining activities are tackled.
Responding, the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu stressed the need for the collaboration between him and the Minister saying that there are a lot they can achieve for Abia State even from the government at the centre.
Dr Ikpeazu explained that Abia State is faced with life threatening erosion menace and illegal minining activities that has affected the State negatively.
He said that so far, the State has tackled three erosion manace in Umuahia and Isialangwa and urged the Federal government to assist in the erosion menace at Isuikwuato. He equally informed the Minister that within the last five years, his administration has worked in line with his five pillars of development to take the State to a higher level, adding that so far , a lot has been achieved in that regard.
Governor Ikpeazu, who congratulated the Minister on his appointment expressed confidence that he would represent Abia State well at the federal executive council and assist in the governance of the State, emphasizing that his doors are open for all who eager to help him develop the State.
