Abia Comets Football Club continued their impressive start to the season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Beyond Limits FA in a Southern Conference A Matchday 3 clash on Saturday evening at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, head coach of Abia Comets, Okechukwu Ejeh made a series of tactical substitutions, introducing Emeka Maduka, Akpan Mfreke, and Wadulu Doukumo to inject fresh energy and change the game’s momentum.
The turning point came in the 75th minute when Wadulu Doukumo produced a breathtaking bicycle kick to draw Comets level, silencing the home supporters at the Remo Stars Stadium. His spectacular effort sailed over the goalkeeper and into the net, sparking celebrations on the Abia Comets bench.
Speaking after the final whistle, head coach Okechukwu Ejeh praised his team for their resilience and determination to secure a positive result.
“I’m really proud of the players’ performance. Even after going 1-0 down in the first half, they kept fighting, and we were rewarded with a good result,” Ejeh said.
With this draw, Abia Comets remain at the top of the Southern Conference A standings, sitting on seven points after three games.
