Niger tornadoes Central defender Charles Chukwudi Okafor has stated what fans should expect from the minna based side in the recently commenced NPFL abridged league as victory in bauchi on Sunday against hosts wikki tourist speaks volume going into the season.
In an exclusive chat with footballflakes.net shortly after their historic triumph at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi on Sunday January 15th 2023, against Wikki Tourist FC, the Central defender whose style of play brings serenity at the back envisages a season full of possibilities for the Ikon Allah boys as resilience and consistency are values they would uphold as the season progresses.
“we had the belief that we can get something in bauchi because we prepared well and the boys are ready to give everything”
“we had a plan because we were even happy that our first encounter is away from home so we believe if we could give everything and start well, is to our advantage and winning in bauchi wasn’t a fluke though wikki tourist gave us a good fight just that we were very organized especially at the back and well disciplined and we played to our coach’s instructions”.
The Centre back who was an NPFL winner in the 2020/2021 season with Akwa United shared his thoughts with regards the ambitions of the coach Bala Mohammmed led Niger tornadoes FC of minna, this season, whilst making reference to the competitive challenge the abridged version of the league presents.
” The abridged league is good and very competitive i won’t be surprised seeing some Big boys battling with relegation and our aim this season is to finish well and see ourselves in super 6 and get a continental slot “
Niger tornadoes alongside Abia warriors, Rivers united completes a trio of teams with 3 points in the group B of the abridged version of NPFL after matchday 1 having recorded a 2 nil famous victory on the road against Wikki Tourist as they seek to consolidate on their winning streak with a midweek matchday 2 fixture against visiting Doma United in kaduna their adopted homeground. A back to back victory remains on the cards for the ikon Allah boys.
